Decrypting Deafness for the Hearing

I'm not involved in deaf culture, I was raised mainstream through use or oralism, and I'm a CODA (Child of deaf adults) as my mother was also deaf.  Deafness runs in the family, it's genetic for me.  I don't participate nor care for deaf culture and I'm primarily working towards dispelling myths, misconceptions and outright misinformation spread about deaf people, some of which by deaf people themselves.

Such common myths involve but not limited to.

• All deaf people use sign language
• Deaf people do not speak
• Deafness is not a disability
• Deaf people can't drive
• Deaf people can't speak clearly like the hearing can
• All deaf people hear absolute silence
• Deafness and Hearing Loss in general doesn't cause other health and mental health problems if left untreated
• etc

I'm currently on Minds as CryptoDeaf and YouTube.  I will edit this site more as I have time.  I'm also learning ASL (Not all deaf sign remember?  I'm still learning that language.)
